Update On Journey To The Veil

Journey to the Veil Cover

Dear UnBlog Family,

I just got some exciting news about John’s upcoming book, “Journey to the Veil”, which is scheduled for sale on November 12: Deseret Book will be carrying it in their catalog from December 30, 2013 to February 2, 2014! This is such fantastic news, as I know that through Deseret Book, the book will receive greater attention and more acceptance from a wider spectrum of the LDS and Christian community. I am just so humbled that these life-changing blogs will be available to so many, because I sincerely feel that John’s final book is going to be a tremendous catalyst for spiritual growth as we boldly carry forward the cause of Zion.

The publisher has asked that I encourage John’s many friends to support and purchase this book from Deseret Book during that marketing period of December 30, 2013 to February 2, 2014 in particular. Of course, you can purchase it at any time; but it would be very helpful to future marketing with DB if we could buy from them during that time. Thanks you all!

That said, I wanted to share an exclusive bit of the book so that you can get a flavor of what it’s about. The following is the “Foreward” which was written by Spencer from “Visions of Glory.” Spencer didn’t initially know he was writing a Foreward, as I had merely asked if he would be so kind as to read the preliminary manuscript and perhaps write an endorsement if he felt so moved. He did so, and when the publishers read his inspired endorsement, they insisted that it become the “Foreward” for the book. I agreed that it is a wonderful introduction, and I would be interested in your take on it as well.

FOREWARD FOR “JOURNEY TO THE VEIL”

“John Pontius came into my life very unexpectedly and exited it a year ago (December 2012) in the same fashion. He was taken in the impeccable timing and love and mercy of the Lord. We were not ready to have him leave us, but he lived out all the days that were allotted to him from the beginning by the Father.

“He loved the Lord and endeavored with all the energy of his soul to follow Christ’s precepts and indefatigably served him and proclaimed his principles and teachings to all he met.

“Not many of God’s children have the ability and opportunity to influence the world for good after they have laid their bodies down in the grave; however, John continues to inspire, influence, and bless the lives of tens of thousands of Saints and true believers from his present station on the other side of the veil. His words are still resonating with those who seek after the truth and desire to follow the light into the presence of the Lord.

“John knew sorrow and was acquainted with grief. He was stretched by that which he suffered. He learned to reach to the highest heights and understood the lowest depths. He was conversant with pain and suffering and could hold his own in a conversation with Job and Abraham. He knew how to succor the weak and lift up the hands that hang down.

“With this newly published compilation of his many wonderful and spirit-raising stories, experiences, and writings, we are again lifted and refreshed by his faith-filled words and spirit. We again have the blessing of becoming reacquainted with John, or for some, knowing and learning from him for the first time.

“John, thank you for your life and faithful devotion to Christ and His gospel. We long to be with you again and learn from you all that you now know, as you have had the opportunity to search the depths of eternity and to learn firsthand from the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father and our Father.

“We will continue to learn from you and will wait for the Time of Refreshing to again learn from and with you at the glorious throne of God.

Your eternal friend,

“Spencer”

I contacted Deseret Book in hopes of purchasing Journey to the veil a little early. They said that it is only a special order book, and that it would not be on the shelves even in January. Is this true, or is this just a misinformed sales clerk? I am so excited to read this book, but I will wait until January if that will help. Thanks so much for all of your precious and inspiring help as we journey to the veil!

    To Terri and Spencer:

I love the Foreward for Journey To The Veil, I know that this book will be yet another awesome read. I have to say that in the last year of my life, a lot of the things that Brother John Pontius has taught me through his writings have given me strength, support, comfort and direction. Experiences upon experiences have been happening to me recently, especially while I was on my visit to the west, and specifically at the temple in Salt Lake City Utah. Things beyond my imagination have been given to me by the power of the Holy Ghost, a series of personal commands wrought by the wonderful Light of Christ and his Atonement. I will never be able to forget the things I am being led to know, for they are being written in my heart. I value Johns work, and the effort he has so valiantly put into bringing yet more of our Savior and Redeemers Gospel forward in these last days. Thus I look forward, to the continuance of my mind and hearts expansion , as yet more truth is still to be revealed. As the horizons expand and stretch beyond time and space, I look ever excitingly forward to walking with our Savior, even through sore trials and afflictions , securing the impression and imprint of exaltation forevermore by the bearing of my personal cross, and then the veil will part. Zion is such a wonderful gift, and I know and have hope given me, especially through Johns writings that I may too secure my place everlastingly in our Gods chosen city of ultimate Charity. Thank you so much John, Terri, Spencer, and all who have done so much for us to be able to obtain such information, you have truly been engaged and chosen to enhance the Lords work, and may God bless you throughout all eternity to come.

    Yours Truly,
    Jareth Brashear

I have been touched from John’s writings and very much enjoyed the book “Visions of Glory”. This book answered question I have pondered for years. Spencer’s personal account and life stories connected the dots for me in many ways. It resonated truth to my heart and soul. I love to learn and I love the scripture’s. and the talks from our current Leaders in the Church from General Conference. I pray to hear the Lords words for me as I review the conference talks over and over again. I feel after others spiritual life experience and it brings me joy to hear them. knowing I too can have these kinds of experiences as I seek the Lord will for me with love. I have had many struggles and pains that has given me better understanding of what life is for me. I look forward to adding this book to my personal library this Christmas Season.

Dear Spencer, I just finished “Visions of Glory” this morning (10/20/13). Thank you so much!!! Read Mosiah 8:17-18, …….you “are a benefit to your fellow beings.” I am so grateful that you shared. The book has helped me be closer to my Savior and God. I moved to Utah from Alaska recently for the 2nd time. I was praying for a spiritual teacher and my daughter told me about your book. I lived in Hawaii and I found a LDS spiritual teacher there, he passed on….I miss him and his wisdom. I need a teacher to share my spiritual experiences, and know I will be not be persecuted. Can I email you in private? Thank you so much for you faithfulness and sacrifices. Rebecca
