Balloons

They were only Balloons
    A laughing explosion of things
Bright red, blue, giggle and gay.
    They were children’s laughter,
    Happiness tied up with strings.
They were only Balloons
Every good and lovely and could.
Bright red and pink, in a loving way
    They were hope and salvation,
    All people together and good.
They were only Balloons
    A chorus of loving glow,
    Ribbon hands embraced, entwined.
Alive, aloft, separate – yet same.
    Lifting each other to grow.
They were only Balloons
