Let Freedom Ring

This UnBlog goes out to a world audience, but I am most grateful for the liberty, peace and safety of America.

I say to us all across the land and around the world, may the safety of Zion and peace of Jesus Christ be what we celebrate one day soon. Happy 4th of July.

The Romans had bread and circuses, and America gets food stamps and reality TV. I hope and pray we wake up and my cynicism is wasted.

  2. I agree with John and I believe the awakening has begun. Happy 4th everyone! I feel the DNA surging in my body each time I say the “Pledge of Allegiance” or sing the “Star Spangled Banner” I do not have LDS Pioneer heritage, but every one of my ancestral lines were here before this great country was born and each one had some family member who fought in the Revolutionary War. Again, be sure to celebrate in some way, but watch those sparks!!

Hillsdale College is asking that as many people as possible join together in reading the Declaration of Independence this 4th of July. Go to readthedeclaration.com and sign in. I think of the counsel given in the Book of Mormon to us to voice our choice for righteous leaders. May we teach our children the greatness of America and to stand strong in the face of evil.

I fear our people care little for freedom, or at least its preservation.

    • Steve, I respectfully disagree. I think people are lulled into carnal security right now, but they will awaken, and there will be a revolution of sorts. Americans love their liberties and freedoms and when they see them gone – then they will care mightily, and they will fight whatever battles they must. My question is how many of our freedoms must they watch slip through their fingers before they realize it was one too many.

I hope you are right, John. We have lost so many freedoms and continue to lose them, and I don’t hear any of my brethren here locally raise a voice of concern.
