OK, tell me the truth. Did the following Un-blog creep anyone out? Tell the truth. I have several more instructive experiences with the opposition. If anyone couldn’t sleep, or had to go get an exorcism (I’m kidding!) let me know, and I will save them for another time and another venue. I only want to uplift and spread light.

God Bless,

    Brother John,
This is something that many do not want to talk about because it scares them. But it is real. I had an experience when I was in college. My roommate and I were trying to pray and I felt a dark, oppressive feeling, as if I could barely breath or speak. I realized what it was, opened my eyes, raised my arm to the square and in the name of Jesus Christ, cast out the evil spirit. It left and a sweet, peaceful feeling came. It seemed odd for such a thing to happen, but I was grateful for my understanding that dark spirits could be cast out. I had no idea why I had such an experience until I was on my mission.
I won’t go into all the details, but I ended up being with only one American on my mission (in Japan) and she had come out a month before me. I was made her senior companion, which seemed odd. It turned out that the Lord had sent her to that mission, with that mission president and with me as a companion so she would learn to overcome some of her own weaknesses and the evil spirits that had plagued her most of her life because of an evil mother. At one point she was possessed and I learned that even the priesthood can’t cast out an evil spirit unless the one possessed adds their faith to the priesthood’s faith. At times I know she and I walked with angels surrounding us to protect her. At other times, we had to leave the apartment so Michael and his angels could “clean” the apartment. Over the period of 6 months, she learned that the Lord was not demanding she choose between Him and her family, but that her family could only progress if she did. She went home a much stronger woman and saint.
I learned to not be jealous of the answers that others get. I learned that the Lord knows us intimately and arranges things in our lives for our good, even if they seem really hard at the time. I learned that even though the evil spirits seem very strong, we, with the Lords help, are stronger. I learned of their hate for us. And I learned how much those on the other side of the veil are involved with us here. I learned that the Lord answers prayers in the most unexpected ways. I learned many things that have helped me throughout my life.
I’m not sorry that you wrote of this experience of yours. You have helped me reflect on my own experiences and remember how grateful I am for what the Lord has taught me.
One thing that your experience has taught me…I didn’t know for sure that there were female evil spirits. Now I know. Thank you.

Just recently read a book by Doug Mendenhall, “Conquering Spiritual Evil”. This book is just recently out regarding experiences that he and his family have had since his daughter had a NDE and came back without a veil. The battle that we are engaged in is very real. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I have been reading the same book. I’m not sure yet what to make of it. I keep setting it down wondering if the feelings I get from it are worth the information to be gleaned. I agree with what he is saying, I just don’t like reading about “evil”. Maybe it’s just me in my bruised state that isn’t very strong.

I really appreciate your willingness to post this story. I have been making my way through the Un-blog, and seeing the experiences you have had from both ends of the spectrum gives me hope. I myself have struggled for the last several years now, finding that regardless of my efforts at righteousness and faithfulness, I seem to only draw “spiritual” experiences in the form of confrontations with the opposition. I feel I could count my experiences with the Spirit these last several years on one hand with fingers to spare, even including the slightest feelings of peace or confirmation, while my experiences with dark forces easily number in the dozens, some quite nasty. No amount of prayer, fasting, or obedience has seemed to sway this for me as far as I am able to tell, and so I only cling to my desperate hope that one day, the Lord will see fit to deliver me and grant me light and love equal to the darkness I’ve faced. To see that others who have experienced opposition like this have also experienced great moments of light, love and revelation helps me endure as I wait and hope.

      Dear Mike,

I have met some other people who struggled like you have. I don’t know the right answer, but if it was me dealing with nasties from the dark side, I would get a priesthood blessing, hang a picture of the Savior in every room, clean your house of anything negative, like books, magazines, novels, TV shows, dark music, etc. I would also prayerfully consider every person in my house and determine if anyone is “messing around” with dark things – even music. They need help, or they need to move out.

Generally these kinds of Spirits are invited by someone inside the home. They rarely just show up. Something or someone is inviting them. Think back to when they began bugging you, and try to remember if someone bought and hung up handycrafts, or homemade art they bought. My sister was having an awful time with bad spirits years ago. She remembered a gift from a non-member friend she had hanging on her walls. We split it open and there was a pentagram and other symbols inside. We destroyed it, used the Priesthood to cast them out, and the bad spirits left permanently.

If you live in an apartment building, someone could be dabbling in dark in another apartment. Seriously consider moving to a new building.

I hope you solve this quickly. It’s a nasty way to live.

    Dear Brother John,

I love all of it. Looking forward to more. A very
good friend by the name of John Seaton let me take
his book, Following The Light Of Christ, several
years ago, which answered so many questions. Wow!
Powerful book. Now the same great feeling again
reading your new Triumph Of Zion book.
By the way, John Seaton evidently was a good friend
    of your father.
So looking forward to the day when Zion is established.
Thank You for sharing your talents and knowledge!

    Dear Brother John,

I am very appreciative of this blog. It has helped me understand more fully the intent and power of the evil one and his minions.

We could each tell such stories, you couple them with the power of goodness instead of leaving one empty.

    Thank you.

This evil will be unleashed even more in the near future and if we do not have the Spirit in full force in our lives – well as we are told – even the very elect will be deceived.

Thank you again. All your life experiences bouy us up and help us to progress.

    Love, Juli

No problem!! I thot it was a great testimony that we do not have to endure the presence of evil spirits. It also shows us the way to follow to get them out of our lives.
Thanks for your unblogs. They are a great source of testimony and inspiration. I look forward to them every day.

Did the blog creep me out? Wow. Evil spirits are creepy, but I’ve become convinced that when I am tempted to do wrong, which unfortuneatly is a daily event, that I am hearing one of Satan’s followers “whisper in my ear”. So, I hear evil. you saw and felt evil. That’s creepy alright.

But, I believe without hesitation, your story and that seeing the dark world is just part of becoming visionary. It certainly happened with Joseph and Sydney, Moses, Heber C.,, etc.

    Thanks for sharing

I actually felt a stong desire to pray more fervently for the protection of the holy ghost on me and my family after I read this blog. All day I have felt more of His power and influence over me. I learn much by visual pictures, so I learned more about the advisary and how he works: good to learn so you know how to fight your battles.

That was as informative, valuable and insightful as everything else you write. I consider this “unblog” a very rare treasure, and feel privileged and blessed to be able to partake of what you share here, including your post sharing some personal insights to the darkness that surrounds us.

Also, I actually would comment one every single one of the things you write here, except I worry that it might get tiresome (because most of the comments would basically say some iteration of, “This was such a blessing to be able to read and I’m grateful.” And that’s because, you know, it IS a rare and wonderful blessing that you are willing to share all that you do here with us.

I’ve also considered emailing you each time you write here to say–yep, I loved that one too–just so you would know. So, please know that even though I’m NOT doing those things due to self-restraint as opposed to lack of appreciation, I’m very, very grateful for what you do here.

    Warmest regards,

    Victoria

    Ignorance is not bliss.

Christ knew the Spirits in the possessed child and Man, and he told them to leave. He was not afraid of them, nore should we be.

Dark Spirits power is OUR Fear. Our Power is Love (Christs Love). I know that Love/Christ can overcome all, and I feel its important to understand this.

I am reminded of the following Scripture IN D&C 123:13-17

13Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven— 14These should then be attended to with great earnestness. 15Let no man count them as small things; for there is much which lieth in futurity, pertaining to the saints, which depends upon these things. 16You know, brethren, that a very large ship is abenefited very much by a very small helm in the time of a storm, by being kept workways with the wind and the waves. 17Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed

It states we should bring HIDDEN Things of Darkness out AS instructed by the Heaven (HG).

Thanks again for sharing, its important to understand how those who choose to hurt us (Spirits and people) work.

Christ and Love will always conquer, They can not exist in the same place.

If a mortal/corporal enemy were wandering the halls at my work or standing next to my bed as I slept, I would want to know. It would be disturbing to learn of his proximity and his determination and hatred, but far better to know the disturbing facts than to be blissfully ignorant. And, it is easy to argue that Satan’s followers are a far greater threat to us that those who merely desire our physical destruction. This blog is not joyful, as so many of your blogs are, but I believe it is valuable.

No…it was a great blog topic.
I’ve had experiences myself with evil. I’m afraid it is the heritage of all people seeking the Savior.

We need to hear more of these experiences to understand … #1 What we are up against.
#2 That’s it normal for direct attacks to come and #3 how you dealt with the evil spirit by reliance on Christ and came away conquerer.

Please by all means….continue. It’s very helpful not to feel alone.

Not at all. I shared your post with some friends and one in particular said that it was very comforting to see that she wasn’t the only one who had had an experience like that.

If that was the only topic you ever blogged about, it would be different. I think to address it occasionally in the perspective of your other posts is helpful.

I was actually very grateful. I’ve recently come to the realization that people seeking after the highest blessings must come to witness and understand the opposition. It’s all a part of learning to be a god.

This has been a very alarming discovery and it’s nice to hear the accounts of others who have faced these things and received protection from the Lord. It gives me hope.
